Why they fail differently to sectionals

There is no counterbalance spring on a shaft and no panel hinges. Instead a single curtain winds onto a drum, with the spring inside the drum itself.\n\nThat means fewer parts, but when the drum spring loses tension the whole door stops holding itself up — and unlike a sectional there is no partial failure mode. It works, or it doesn't.

Curtain damage

A dent in one slat binds in the guide. Keep operating it and the binding slat drags the ones either side out of line, which is how a single reversing-car dent becomes a curtain replacement.\n\nIf the door catches at the same point every cycle, stop using it and get it looked at. That catch is the cheapest warning you will get.

Shed and acreage doors

The hinterland runs a lot of acreage — Mooloolah Valley, Eumundi, Beerwah, Mapleton — and shed doors out there are wider and heavier than anything domestic.\n\nWide spans put disproportionate load through the drum bearings and guides. They also tend to get used seasonally and serviced never, which is why acreage door failures are usually more expensive than suburban ones by the time anyone calls.

Commercial shutters

Same mechanism, industrial scale, and a failed shutter usually stops trade. Kunda Park, Warana, Yandina and the Cooroy industrial pocket are where most of these sit.\n\nSay up front that it's commercial. It routes to someone equipped for the size and treats the timing as urgent.
